RESOLUTION FOR EQUAL EDUCATION AND RACIAL EQUITY

Because…

Fundamentally, in order to establish the other world possible and the US necessary, WE MUST have a strong public education system, equally for ALL.

The present educational system is unequal and divided by race; where people of color and poor get the worst schools,

The present educational system is not funded adequately, and funding is unequal based on race and geographic place,

The present educational system I unequal by gender in terms of rights and standing,

Class divides the present educational system with poor and working class, parents having less voice and worst schools and less funding,

The present books used in public institutions are racist, one sided histories, and do not have a pluralistic approach,

The present educational system is too focused in testing and not on learning,

The present educational system does not give teachers enough salaries, teaching freedom, and critical educational tools for students to succeed,

The present educational system is not inclusive of parental participation and community power in the schools decisions,

THEREFORE,

Southwest Workers Union proposes a FREE educational system with scholarships for all students to into higher education,

Southwest Workers Union proposes an EQUAL education for all students regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and social class,

Southwest Workers Union proposes that is ADEQUATELY funded,

Southwest Workers Union proposes Free of Racism,

Southwest Workers Union proposes with books and technology for ALL,

Southwest Workers Union proposes an educational system with no Push out or Drop out students,

Southwest Workers Union proposes a school system free of military recruitment, JROTC and police on campus,

Southwest Workers Union proposes free of violence,

Southwest Workers Union proposes that provides free health care for all students,

Southwest Workers Union proposes Back-to-School DAY of ACTION for Educational equality and student rights!
